Accengage raises $3m to invest in its app engagement platform
Paris-based startup Accengage has raised $3m in funding, and announced its technology is installed on a massive 95% of all smartphones on France. The company develops mobile app engagement tech which is used in push notifications, mobile retargeting, and in-app messaging. The new funds will be used to hire more staff, create new features, and build infrastructure based on increasing demand.
Its reach extends beyond France, and according to the company’s CEO, Accengage sends out 500 million push notifications to users in more than 70 countries each month, while its technology is found inside 130 million installed apps. Accengage says its mobile marketing platform is designed to increase user engagement, encourage inactive users to return, and boost conversion rates.
CEO Jerome Stioui said:
“As the mobile market matures, we’ve seen app marketers shift away from solely concentrating on getting downloads to focusing more on actually improving the engagement, retention and conversion of acquired users.”
Stioui gave TechCrunch an example of how its push notifications are being used by Disneyland Paris. Automated messages are sent to an app user’s phone based on their location, and include a welcome note, news on featured restaurants, and to promote yearly passes.
In addition to Disney, Accengage works with more than 300 other major companies, including Universal Music, Rakuten, Nestle, Orange, and KLM.
