Appier receives $23m from Sequoia Capital to expand its cross-screen marketing solution in Asia
Appier, the artificial intelligence startup based in Taiwan, has secured funding of $23m in a Series B from Sequoia Capital, UOB Venture Management, TransLink Capital, JAFCO Asia and MediaTek Ventures. The company plans to use the funds to expand its cross-screen advertising solution to more Asian markets as well as recruit new talent.
Appier’s cross-screen marketing technology
“Our investors have already been quite helpful in helping Appier to grow in talent and market expansion. We’re very excited to work with each of these new partners. Each brings a particular strength and expertise that our team can benefit from. For example, UOBVM is very strong in Southeast Asia, a key market for us. JAFCO specializes in helping companies strengthen their position in Japan as well as expand across Asia, with a particular emphasis on those of us in the technology sector. Both TransLink and our original partner Sequoia exemplify Silicon Valley’s entrepreneurial heritage, while MediaTek is strong in Taiwan.”
Appier optimises ad impressions using artificial intelligence to screen a user’s cross-screen behaviour. This enables advertisers to target audiences more effectively. According to the company, artificial intelligence helps marketers gain insight into how users move between devices including desktops, tablets and smartphones. Chih-Han adds:
“Our technology can help bridge the complexity of the cross screen era. It makes sense to start with advertising […] but this is only one application of cross screen AI, and we foresee many areas which can benefit from this approach, such as business intelligence.”
