Mobile ad spend in China outgrew desktop spending for the first time in 2015, according to a new report from eMarketer. According to the China Mobile Advertising: Heady Growth amid Economic Uncertainty report, mobile ad spend reached $15.82bn in 2015, representing 51% of digital ad spend in the country. Despite slow economic growth in China last year, eMarketer predicts mobile ad spending to reach $24.99bn this year, climbing 58%.
Mobile ad spend rises sharply in China
According to eMarketer, the growth in mobile ad spend can be attributed to higher consumer spending in the country, resulting in 60% of GDP growth in H1 2015.
eMarketer forecasts for China in 2016 are higher than those of its competitors, basing its analysis on reported financial results by publicly trading companies such as Baidu and Alibaba.
