The future is mobile. Ever more consumers are getting their hands on tablets or smartphone devices whilst the mobile marketing and advertising industry is only just getting started.
B2C recently launched an infographic that takes a closer look at just how much the mobile advertising landscape has grown over the last few years.
At the same time, it’s also important to note that the rise in mobile usage and marketing is just getting started.
The graphic shows that the total number of mobile phone users stands at 4.61bn as of 2016. That number is expected to reach 4.77bn this year.
Smartphone subscriptions have also advanced and reached 2.6bn devices in 2016. By 2020, they are predicted to grow to 6.1bn.
In terms of shipment popularity by device maker, Apple leads at 57.35%. However, Android’s overall market share is six times larger than that of iOS.
37% of website traffic is now coming from mobile devices as opposed to desktop computers and browsers. In addition, mPayments have experienced some serious commitment with 18% of Americans now using mobile payments to make purchases. mCommerce now amount to $1.5tr each year and are set to more than double in 2017 to $3.2tr.
Overall, more advertising spend now goes toward mobile marketing as opposed to desktop ads.
