Mobile ad network, Mobvista, recently met with Adam Selipsky, COO and Vice President of Marketing, Sales, Product Management & Support at Amazon Web Services (AWS), in the company’s office in Guangzhou to discuss Amazon’s future plans for the Chinese market. Eric Huang, Co-founder and VP of Mobvista, exchanged ideas for start-ups as well as enterprises’ needs for cloud services, provided by Amazon, including the Cloud Front and other technical solutions AWS provides data companies like Mobvista with.
Mobvista meets Adam Selipsky
Adam Selipsky confirmed AWS’s intention to continue investment in the Chinese market:
“We came here for a long term. Amazon in general thinks carefully about where to invest. We think that China is going to be very big market and we certainly intend investing here. That will be one of the biggest cloud markets in the world. Regulations around which companies can get which licenses change rapidly, and we will be aggressive to get as many licenses as we can, and we are certainly interested in bringing back Cloud Front to China.”
Eric Huang stated that Chinese big data engineers currently using AWS require additional support from tech staff inside China Mainland. Selipsky confirmed that Amazon plans to improve this by hiring additional staff and organising training programmes.
Additionally, Selipsky praised Mobvista’s progress as a start-up, having grown into an international company with 300 employees within just two years. He adds:
“We don’t want to be a big company; we are big but want to be like a startup. We want to be able to say ‘Whatever we said yesterday, today it changes’, because our customers are saying something else, doesn’t matter what they said yesterday. This agility is a key, and so far we’ve managed to keep that. And I think that’s a big part of reasons why we have grown as quickly as we have. We want to be like you.”
