Mobile performance marketing agency, Spyke Media, recently confirmed it now makes 89% of its business from app promotion. The company, based in Cologne, Germany, has been growing rapidly since 2013. For the first time, it now has a booth at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona this year. In 2015, the company doubled annual revenues. As bigger brands have begun to shift their ad budgets to mobile, a large share of Spyke Media’s app business comes from big brand apps as well as games.

Heike Burr, Co-Founder and General Manager, Spyke Media, says:
“We knew that it was just a matter of time until big companies would explore the opportunities of mobile apps and promoting their apps on a performance-based model. Mobile performance marketing is the best way to reach out to your target groups while also guaranteeing effective advertising that comes from the revenue model we provide.”
The company’s top five countries in terms of revenue growth are the US, Germany, UK, France and Italy.
Spyke Media adds that 68% of its offers are non-incentivised. Burr explains:
“Customers use incentivised traffic to increase the reach of an app tremendously, but also know that this might not lead to engaged users. Our approach is to find the right mobile marketing mix for our customers to succeed, while also providing great expertise and consultation.”
Spyke has been busy buying media from major players such as exchanges, DSPs and direct publishers. This has been instrumental in the company’s success.
In addition, Spyke Media recently unveiled its top mobile marketing trends for 2016 predictions. They include new virtual reality ad formats on mobile, major brands shifting budgets, mobile video ads becoming the most engaging format, search engine display of apps, lifestyle-driven app usage as well as a major growth in app promotion in APAC.
